"The Jump Off" is the 31st episode of the fourth season and the 151st episode overall of Craig of the Creek.
Synopsis[]
Craig, Cannonball, Sparkle Cadet and Diane find themselves wrapped up in a double Dutch tournament.
Plot[]
Craig, Cannonball, Sparkle Cadet and Diane are hanging out looking through Diane's comic collection on the playground, when Brittani and her friends show up and demonstrate their amazing Double Dutch skills. They mock Diane, who used to be in their group but left after it stopped being fun. Craig rashly challenges them to a jump-off, but it turns out the other kids are really bad at jumping rope. Nicole sees them jumping rope in the driveway and shows off her own skills, and becomes the team's coach.
She makes them realize that they should be doing it to have fun, not to get even with someone who made fun of them. Nicole tells the story of the regional jump-offs in 1989 where she lost to Carla Frazier, then angrily promised to beat her next time, even though Carla was about to ask if she wanted to hang out. Hence it's important to do it for enjoyment, not just to be the best, for that is a lonely road.
The day of the jump-off comes, and eventually Diane trips over the rope and hurts herself. Even though she lost, Britanni's friends come over and compliment her moves. Britanni also, mostly, admits she was doing it for the reasons.
Carla Frazier catches Nicole sneaking into her garage to steal the jump-off trophy from when they were kids, and Nicole rolls under the door and runs for the car with it.
