- The joke that the Champions got their powers by eating "Dumb-Dumb Fruits" (which are actually just pinecones) is a reference to Monkey D. Luffy, the main character of One Piece, who got the ability to stretch his body parts after eating a fruit called the Gum-Gum Fruit.
