Screenshots of the show are primarily used on the wiki to illustrate plot summaries and provide pictures of characters, locations, and objects for which no render is available. Screenshots are also a valuable source of art references, file photos, and illustrative tools. Accordingly, the Craig of the Creek Wiki strives to provide high quality screenshots of all episodes, without impacting rightsholders.
Capturing screenshots[]
All platforms where full episodes of Craig of the Creek are available in high definition employ DRM to prevent screen recording or other copying of the content. In the United States, where the wiki is based, circumvention of digital rights management (DRM) technology is permitted in limited contexts, such as the creation of limited representations of copyrighted material for purposes considered "fair use". This is the only legal way to obtain full-resolution episode screenshots. Any screenshots known to have been obtained from any other source, such as a pirate upload, are not allowed on this wiki. Users who upload such screenshots will be permanently blocked with no ability to appeal.
There is no fair use exemption to copyright law's forbidding disclosing methods of DRM circumvention. Accordingly, this wiki provides no advice or tutorials on how to circumvent DRM on any platform where Craig of the Creek is available, and it forbids any discussion thereof.
A list of platforms where Craig of the Creek is available in full resolution in the United States is present here.
Screenshot policy[]
So that the wiki remains a consistent source of high quality screenshots, all screenshots uploaded should meet the following criteria:
- Screenshots should not be edited in any way. This includes cropping, upscaling or downscaling the resolution, adjusting the saturation or contrast, superimposing any images or text, or any other changes that result in a visible difference from the original broadcast.
- Screenshots must be in PNG format. Lossy image formats are not suitable for screenshots of digital animation.
- Screenshots must be full resolution. Craig of the Creek is broadcast in a 1920-by-1080 resolution. Depending on the technology, the display resolution may be 1912-by-1072 instead; screenshots in this resolution are also acceptable.
- Screenshots should be losslessly compressed using an image optimizer like pinga. Consider using the slowest compression level.
- Screenshots may not contain any image overlays, such as the network watermark or ratings bugs. Note that this essentially disallows screenshots from television broadcasts and VODs offered through TV providers. An exception is made for episodes that have never been available without image overlays, such as the Craig of the Creek pilot.
