Fandom mandates that all wikis detail their policy on blocking users to reduce user complaints. This policy spells out the wiki's rules on how users can be sanctioned. Administrators and bureaucrats must follow these rules. Violations of this policy may result in demotion. This policy took effect on June 7, 2023, and was last updated June 7, 2023. Note that this policy does not apply retroactively.
Standard sanction procedure
Violations of rules not otherwise specified in this policy will be dealt with through at least a four-strike system. Whether or not to offer additional chances is at the discretion of the administrator applying the block. These four strikes are as follows:
- The first violation of a particular rule by a user will result in a warning on the user's talk page explaining the rule they violated. The message must link to this page, Rules, and if applicable, the Manual of Style, and must ask the user to review these documents. The warning must specifically state the consequences of another violation of the rule, and if it is violated again, the sanctions spelled out in the first rule must be applied.
- The second violation of a particular rule by a user will result in a one-day block. If the person administering the block so chooses, they may extend the block until the user acknowledges the warning. The user must be warned of this violation through the same manner as before, and this warning should reiterate the information from the previous block, including how a further infraction will be acted upon.
- The third violation of a particular rule by a user will result in a one-week block. They must be warned on their talk page about doing so. This message need only include that a fourth violation will result in a indefinite block.
- The fourth violation of a particular rule by a user will result in an indefinite block. The user must still be allowed to post on their talk page, provided they use this privilege only to appeal their block. They must be left a message on their talk page explaining their block. The message must link to this policy.
Special cases
Unless otherwise specified, users must be notified about the violation, the block duration, and the duration of the block if the rule is violated again.
Manual of Style/File Policy noncompliance
The standard sanction procedure should be followed for noncompliance with these documents. Though following these documents is a rule, a user should only be considered in violation if the majority of the user's edits are noncompliant in their entirety, i.e., need to be reverted. Such a block should only be applied if the user has been previously asked to read these policies in a message not otherwise warning them about violating a rule, such as a welcome message.
Grammar/spelling issues
As spelled out in the wiki rules, editors that consistently make contributions that are difficult to read due to grammar or spelling issues may be indefinitely blocked. This block can be appealed at any time, as many times as desired, simply by demonstrating English proficiency.
Vandalism
A user whose first edit to the wiki is obvious vandalism may be blocked immediately, depending on the severity. Vandalism that is offensive in nature or resembling that of other blocked users will result in a permanent block that cannot be appealed. In such a case, the user does not need to be notified of the block. Inoffensive vandalism, such as page blanking or adding irrelevant text to an article, will result in a one-month block. A second instance of vandalism of any type by the same user will result in a permanent block.
Excessive user content
Users who primarily use the wiki's User and Message Wall namespaces over the article namespace may be asked to either stop adding content to these namespaces or to make contributions to the main namespace. If necessary, the user may be blocked from editing in these namespaces.
Note that this does not apply to article comments or Discussions.
Copyright infringement
Users that upload, link to, promote, or mention material that infringes on copyright will be given one warning, and then will be permanently blocked, and will not be allowed to appeal. If this material infringes on any copyrights relating to the Craig of the Creek franchise, all content uploaded by the user must be deleted, and they may not be allowed to upload new files.
Terms of Use violation
Terms of Use violations are immediately referred to Fandom staff. These violations can result in the offender's account being disabled sitewide. While awaiting a response from staff, offenders may be indefinitely blocked without being allowed to use their talk page.
Sockpuppetry
Sockpuppets of an account currently facing a block will receive a permanent block that cannot be appealed. Sockpuppets need not be notified of the block via their Message Wall.
Appealing a block
Blocks exceeding one week in length not covered under "special cases" may be appealed to the lead bureaucrat or the issuer of the block. The appeal must show that the user understands the rules and will take steps to avoid violating them in the future. A user may only appeal a block for violating a particular rule once, and a single block may only be appealed once. The lead bureaucrat can override an appeal decision made by the issuer of the block, but only following discussion with said issuer.
The issuer of a block may allow additional appeals at their discretion.
Appeals for blocks that are believed to not have been issued in compliance with this policy are exempt from it.
Partial blocks
Repeated abuse of page or file creation, renaming, article comments, or Discussions not severe enough to merit a sitewide block will result in a partial block. These should typically only be handed out when the offending behavior can be dealt with without the use of a full block. These blocks may be permanent following a single warning, but can be appealed normally.
