"Council of the Creek" is the twelfth episode of the second season and the fifty-second episode overall of Craig of the Creek.
Synopsis[]
The circle game wreaks havoc on the Creek, so Craig forms a council to restore order.
Plot[]
The Stump Kids are at a bridge with Kelsey talking about a sci-fi movie she and her dad saw the other night about aliens impersonating humans to take over a suburban town, and wondering about what to do if it were to happen to the Creek. Craig has a plan in case of bees and mole people, but not alien clones. J.P. finds it suspiciously interesting, thinking Craig is one. Paintball Mike shows up talking about 7th graders ambushing his patrol unit and him getting a hit on his arm. J.P., speaking for everyone, asks about it, and he shows them his left hand in the form of a circle with his pinky sticking out. They're confused, with Mike introducing the circle game where people lose when looking at such circles. He then leaves the amused Stump Kids to show Sailor Boy his "anchor tattoo", actually showing him the same circle, with Sailor Boy expressing amusement. Kelsey alerts her friends about Mortimor presumably being an alien clone, much to their shock, with her showing her right hand as Mike's circle on Mortimor's "back"(actually his right wing), and blows a raspberry. Craig and J.P. show each other circles as well, the Stump Kids admiring it.
Although, they later look at a scene of chaos with several Creek Kids forcing circles to others in ways that would torment them, like Handlebarb showing a circle to Todd, Jason and Boris forcing circles at Sailor Boy, and several kids showing circles and blowing raspberries at Bobby. Big Red surprisingly shoves a circle at the Stump Kids' faces like a total jerk. Even Kit is affected as three kids each show her circles and blow raspberries, much to her annoyance. Livid, she furiously calls off any future trades at the Trading Tree. The Stump Kids discuss that this madness needs to cease, though there is no governing body for the Creek.
Upon returning home, Craig discovers and eavesdrops on Bernard and his student council discussing Amina's proposal for a donation of extra money made from their school dance fundraiser to the Perfect Puppies for Public Health. Everyone is in favor, sans Gibson, still wanting a photo booth for the dance like at his cousins wedding, much to everyone else's annoyance. Amina points out the vice principal's requirement for unanimous decisions, Cariss gives her own two cents in favor of the charity, and Bernard points out how short-sighted the photo booth is and the power and responsibility of the council. Gibson agrees to the charity thanks to Bernard's motivation, with Craig watching the scene and snacking on the pepperoni from the pizzas and bubble tea. Bernard sees this and calls Craig out, leading to him retreating.
Later that evening, Craig is drawing signs for a "Council of the Creek" on multiple sheets of paper, passing them around the Creek the next day, giving one of them to Kit, and one to a napping Junk Lord, with Cannonball coming across one, and Frisboy showing one to the Sewer Queen, who takes an interest. At a later point, Craig and his friends are joined at their stump by several others: the Sewer Queen(the Sewer Kids and their waters), Yustice(the Ninja Kids), Jason(the (Junior) Forest Scouts), Cannonball(the 10 Speeds), Paintball Mike(the Paintballers), Kit(the Creek economy), Wildernessa(wildlife, and there with Cheesesticks), Junk Lord(junk), Eliza(the Tea Timers), Wren(science), and Bobby(candy?) are all gathered to improve the Creek.
Craig explains that given how various games have rules, the Circle Game might need one, and asks for proposals: Sewer Queen's proposal is to prohibit underwater circles to prevent drowning, Kit's to prohibit circles during important business transactions, and Cannonball's to prohibit shoving circles in someone's face when doing 360s, given he did a 180 when it happened. Other demonstrations occurred, like Cheesesticks sitting on Bobby as Wildernessa forces a circle on him(which is prohibited), George showing a circle on a serving plate with a hole as he removes the lid(which is allowed), Jason driving a car while showing a circle at Cannonball, only to crazy into a tree, but survive and blow a raspberry(which is prohibited), and Paintball Mike forcefully shoving a paint grenade in J.P.'s sleeve to get him to look at a circle, which Craig prohibits, forcing Mike to relent.
That same evening, the final rules are reviewed: no circling by driving, real hands are required rather than photos or drawings, no circling by force, and circles need to be below the waist, any from above do not count. Everyone is in favor of the "Circle Game Doctrine", except for Paintball Mike, who, much to everyone else's shock and annoyance, thinks the game is good as currently is, and claims immunity, leading to outrage from the rest of the council(sans the Stump Kids), and leaving Craig clueless.
That same night, Craig talks to Bernard about his issue, with Bernard calling the situation dumb, admiring the genius of starting a council. He explains that people need to be affected by a problem to know how everyone else feels by feeling it themselves, and that Paintball Mike might come around if Craig proved to him where the circle game is annoying. Craig now knows what needs to be done.
At a trench in Rainbow Alley, Paintball Mike reveals a cache of paint grenades to his cohorts and shows them a circle. Suddenly, Bobby announces that Kit is giving away free candy that expires the next day, or so it seems. The paintballers, sans Mike, all rush to the Trading Tree, much to Mike's annoyance at the considered betrayal, especially with him having brought expired military rations with himself. Alone, he hears something and sees three mysterious figures, one of them(Craig), lunging an orange paint grenade, with Paintball Mike saving his cache to avoid them being destroyed. He sees the three having entered the trench, and they leave with an ired Mike constantly throwing his grenades at them, only to miss. After wasting the grenades, they stop with Mike demanding their intentions. They point behind him, leading him to look there and see, much to his own horror, a blue painted circle, with him horrifyingly turning around to see the three reveal themselves as the Stump Kids and blow a raspberry at him. He frustratingly calls them out for the circle in annoyance, agreeing now to Craig's idea for some rules.
During the evening at a council meeting, the official Circle Game Doctrine is signed by all council members, a bored and annoyed Paintball Mike being the last. Everyone is excited that the problem is solved, with Craig thanking Mike for cooperating and offers a handshake, Mike seeing it actually being a circle with Craig blowing a raspberry. Mike smiles, knowing that Craig is doing it for fun and in a fair way, and interlocks a circle of his own with Craig's, blowing his own raspberry.
